"You're loud." — my mother
A life in publishing could have only prepared me for creating Planet Homo. Having worked as a creative/art director for numerous gay publications such as Out, Genre, Hero, and The Advocate among many others, PH affords me the opportunity to indulge in what was really my college major, writing. I was in fact, editor of the schools literary journal and if I had any sense, I would stayed with it. But pictures and words, combined, elegant and simple were and remain compelling. I come late to the game of blogging, which, though still in its infancy seems overripe with a multitude of players. And one's respect for the more deeply thought out blogs grows, daily. The ultimate purpose here is to eventually engage community, all communities, from all around the world. And while it might seem that we are a community easily consumed with images, erotic images, which we are, there is more to a gay life and certainly more to my life. I have had in my life some incredible mentors, men and women who took me aside, from a young age, and reminded me, (when it seemed almost obligatory to fit in) that I was different. Some of those people are gone, which is not to say they are easily forgotten, they are not; they exist in my hands, my writing, my eyes and once in a while, in my song.
